School - "The decision to
homeschool came about as a result of our son having
Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity. The
decision came after a letter was sent home from public
school stating that the students in our son's school
would begin rotating all classes. He doesn't do well with
rotating classes. Too much noise and confusion. We talked
to the teacher, the principle, the special ed director
and the superintendent but to no avail. They were only
interested in their view of mass teaching. Every six
months we would be told by the teacher that our son
needed to have his Ritalin increased. After much thought
we decided to try homeschooling. With the help of our
cousin who was already teaching her three, we began after
the Christmas holidays. . . .Since then he has
blossomed." - 7/1
- HomeWise
Software - Shareware - free to
try - $19.95 if you keep it. HomeWise is a novel
multipurpose database designed to be a family and home
organizer. Using the metaphor of a home, where individual
functions are listed by room, virtually everything from
to-do lists and book inventories to personal calendars
and clothing sizes can be listed. The kitchen contains a
recipe box, party and meal planners, and similar lists.
Family members can keep individual lists in their
bedrooms. A family area allows access to phone lists, a
family calendar, 911 emergency numbers, medical data,
house plant information, and other communal information.
The program is well organized and easy to navigate, and
will help you organize things you never even thought of.

of the Past by
Caroline Hensby and Bernard Braham.
FREE
downloadable book! Requires Windows (3.1 - 95)
"For a child, being labeled with ADD or ADHD can be a
double-wounding. First, of course, there's the ADD
itself, andthe academic and/or social problems which have
probably plagued the child his or her entire life as a
result of it. But on top of that, there's the often even
more painful wounding of being told that he or she has a
"disorder" and, compared to others, is "deficient." These
are very strong words, and children take such things very
seriously. They're extraordinarily good at living up (or
down) to our expectations of them, and such labels can
often be painful to wear.
In this book, Caroline Hensby and Bernard Braham give
children an opportunity to reframe their ADD/ADHD in a
less pathological light, to see themselves as having
potential and strengths, and to hear the sound of hope
for the future. It's empowering, enlightening, and
altogether healing.
That's why this is such an important book. For your
child, in fact, it may be the most important book on ADD
in the world...
